¿GG Saurophaganax?
Recently, the validity of the genus Saurophaganax has been called into question. Recent studies suggest that the fossils attributed to this dinosaur might belong to other already known genera. In particular, some vertebral elements assigned to Saurophaganax maximus exhibit characteristics more consistent with sauropods than with theropods.
Additionally, it has been proposed that the associated theropod remains might represent a new species of Allosaurus, provisionally named Allosaurus anax.
These findings suggest that Saurophaganax could be a chimeric genus, composed of fossils from different dinosaurs, which casts doubt on its validity as an independent species.
It is important to note that dinosaur taxonomy is a constantly evolving field, and interpretations may change with new discoveries and analyses.
